Angels in America is a play set in Reagan’s America. AIDS is killing gay men, including a powerful gay man named Roy Cohn. Cohn had been unspeakably ruthless and vengeful in his life. From the play’s telling, his death was equally horrible; just punishment. Though some of the dialogue in the play is obviously fiction, no doubt it reflected much of his actual meanness and evil.

Yet, some of the dialogue is unsurprisingly familiar, prescient, as we’ve been hearing it for the last several months if not years from Roy Cohn’s most famous client, friend and protégé, Donald J. Trump. But that’s the backstory to this particular podcast network.

The “angels” in America are those, as in the play, who survive and thrive. Survive AIDS, Reagan’s America, Trump’s America, bigotry and the evil wrought by people like Cohn and his successor(s) because they refuse to do anything but survive and thrive.

So… This blog and upcoming podcasts will NOT be about all things Trump but a discussion of the forces that brought us to this point, a place that Trump just accelerated and, yes, took us back to, how that guides us to moving forward as to tactics and strategies. What is past is prologue. None of this is really new. But a Social media and a MSM driven primarily by profits has made it seem insurmountable.
